New York is the third-most populous state in the US. It is a world famous state thanks to its biggest city, New York City, where 90% of the state’s population resides.
The capital of this state is Albany, but the economic center of the state is NYC. 62 counties compose NY, which has a border with Canada. Many different ethnic groups live in this state, principally in NYC. Known as The Empire State, it was founded in 1788 as the eleventh US state.
Tax on silver sales
There is a sales tax in New York. This tax is applied for each sale and represents 4% of the price. There are some additional local sales taxes required by cities or/and by the county, which means the total tax amount varies between 4% and 8.75%. This tax is applied only for sales which do not exceed $1000.
There are some specific conditions for sales tax exemption. For example, South African coins cannot be exempt from sales taxes. Also, some locally imposed rules protect the consumer as any silver coin for sale cannot exceed 140% of the spot price. More information on sales tax: http://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/memos/sales/m89_20s.pdf
