Alaska is located in the northwest most corner of the United States and is the largest state of this country. It bordered by the Canadian province of British Columbia and the Canadian territory of Yukon in the east, Russia in the west, the Arctic Ocean to the north, Bering Strait right across, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south.
Inhabited by Native Americans for a long time, its course of history changed with the advent of the Europeans forever. It was admitted into the U.S. territory in 1959 and its name originates from the Russian language meaning ‘great land.’
